The Gaia converter keeper HUGD-50 offers an advanced solution to address the issue of maintaining the operation of the electronic system during a power loss on the input bus for 50ms, 200ms or longer. The HUGD-50 module provides an alternative solution that reduces the required capacitance by charging the retention capacitor with a high voltage (typically 38V) while limiting the input current.
The HUGD-50 is connected between the power supply and the DC/DC module. If EMI filters and/or pre-regulators are used, the HUGD-50 will be connected between them and the converter. Basically, when charging the external capacitor to 38V while powering the DC/DC converter, the HUGD-50 will generate a signal. In this case, the converter will be powered by the external capacitor. The HUGD-50 can be used with DC/DC converters with input voltages ranging from 16-40V or 9-36V. Users can adjust the "Power Failure Voltage" from an external source within the range of 8.8V to 15.3V.
Gaia's HUGD-50 high-reliability retention module is designed for higher operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +105°C (optional -55°C), and is suitable for typical military and airborne applications:
